Hello!
My name is Holly and I am a graduate student at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. I am working towards my MFA in Fine Arts, and MS in the History of Art and Design. I will be graduating this spring.
During my time at Pratt, I have been researching travel writing and guidebooks from the late 1800s and early 1900s on Cairo and Egypt for my thesis. My project has recently been accepted to be presented at the University of Exeter in South West England in July 2015 at the ASTENE conference, an academic group that studies all aspects of historic travel in the Near East.
I am so honored to have been selected to present my work at this international conference! However, I cannot handle the travel expenses and booking cost for this conference on my own. I am humbly asking for assistance to travel to Exeter to share my work with my academic peers and exchange ideas with some world-renowned experts in the field. I will put the money to excellent use for my travel expenses, room and board, and academic materials, including, but not limited to books and presentation needs.
I would be more than happy to answer any questions about my work or the conference.
