Help Haymaker Pay Rent!

Haymaker is an autonomous gym that was founded shortly after the election of Donald Trump to help low-income and marginalized folks learn to defend themselves against rising right-wing violence.  We provide expert martial arts and self-defense training to anyone who shows up to the space - for free.  The trainers are all volunteer, and while the space depends on donations to pay its rent, there is no fee to attend the classes.  We therefore don’t owe anyone anything either, or have to subscribe to any particular ideology or political point of view.  Anyone is welcome so long as they’re down to fight racist and sexist violence, and to support others in their efforts to do the same.

Though our classes are always very well attended, many of the people who come through don't have much money to help pay for rent.  We built up a cushion in our first fundraising efforts, but unfortunately that money has run out.  That's why we need your help.

Right now, we're struggling to make our next three months' rent, which is why we're asking for your help.  We pay 1,050 dollars a month in rent  in three-month installments, and our next installment is due.  If we don't pay the full amount of $3,150.00 within the next week, we will be evicted and Haymaker will have nowhere to offer classes.  If you believe in gyms like Haymaker, or just want to help make people safer in an age of rising right-wing violence, please help us out!  We need you and your support very badly, and promise to train harder than ever if you can help us save Haymaker Gym.haymakergym.org
