Help Surya Fly Again

Donation protected
On Wednesday, January 4, Scot Schiebelbein aka Surya was rushed to the hospital by ambulance with his girlfriend April by his side. He was placed on life support and a CT scan revealed that he had a massive tumor engulfing most of his left temporal lobe and placing pressure on his frontal lobe and brain stem. He was taken into an 18 hour surgery on Thursday, Jan 5.

The surgery was incredibly successful, and miraculously, the neurosurgeon was able to remove most of the mass. We were told to expect definite speech deficits along with uncertainty about his motor skills and cognitive function after the surgery. Surya, being as strong willed as he is, decided to prove the doctors wrong and was speaking the same day he woke from surgery. By the following day, he was already walking. The neurosurgeon was in absolute disbelief at his progress.Despite his amazing progress, there are many uncertainties and he still has a long road ahead to recovery with ongoing treatments.

His passion for yoga, fitness and involvement in the community, was also his means of support. Although he is eager to get back to his yoga community, who are really more like an extended family to him, we are reaching out to that community, to family and to friends to help alleviate some of his financial stresses so that he may focus on healing.

Surya has touched the lives of many and his passion for helping others is abundant. Several people have reached out to ask how they can help and give back to him which is why we started this page. Please help if you can!
