After many years of hard work and dedication, it's time for Mr. Hodge to take a long overdue full time vacation!
Mr. Hodge has been teaching music to teenagers since 1979. That's 39 years of rehearsals, zero periods, bus rides, chuck wagons, marching in parades and field shows, winter percussion & guard performances and don't forget about Band Camp and Band Tour! Whew! He must be exhausted!
We are raising funds for his RETIREMENT CONCERT, REUNION & DESSERT RECEPTION scheduled for May 26, 2018. All alumni & family are welcome to attend. (Shhh! It's a surprise)
In addition, we are launching the RITCHEY HODGE MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP as a tribute to a teacher who has influenced countless student, Mr. Hodge has spent his career guiding, mentoring and inspiring his students to reach for the sky. This SCHOLARSHIP will serve as a legacy to his name and all that he accomplished.
The RITCHEY HODGE MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP will be a merit based college scholarship awarded to a senior music student each year. The dollar amount of the award will depend on how much money we initially raise (and continue to raise on an annual basis). Traditionally this type of scholarship would be a $500 or $1,000 one time award given annually.
As far as how the SCHOLARSHIP will be administered, Mr. Hodge will have the honor of both creating the specific criteria and the annual administration of the funds. The SCHOLARSHIP applications and accompanying student letters will be sent to him directly and he will make the final decision each spring before graduation.
A majority of the funds initially raised before May 26, 218 will be used for the SCHOLARSHIP FUND as we are hoping to have most items needed for the concert & dessert reception donated.
Please SHARE with all parents, Band & Colorguard alumni from Oakmont, Antelope, Woodreek and Granite Bay High Schools that were under the musical direction of Mr. Hodge.
