Japan Fair 2019
Tax deductible
Japan Fair is a free, two-day festival in Bellevue, WA, that celebrates Japanese art and culture. Through the funds and donations, Japan Fair would love to keep providing free admission and free workshops to the public.
Formerly known as "Aki Matsuri", Japan Fair is a communal endeavor of musicians, artisans, community organizations, and businesses from both Japan and the U.S. who come together to share their products, talents, and knowledge of Japan. Through live performances on stage, hands on exhibits, cultural workshops, and vendor booths, the public is immersed in the music, dance, artistry, and philosophy of Japan. Our goal is to not only introduce and spread the ideas and cultures of Japan, but to also bridge and connect the Japanese communities with the American communities.
Japan Fair 2019 will be held on June 29th and 30th.
This year, we will expand the seminar/workshop offerings to two rooms with an exciting new additional program called “Necchu School” which will enhance our mission of providing educational opportunities to a wider community to foster learning. Seattle Necchu School is a unique continuing education program taught by established professionals which include entrepreneurs, musicians, proprietors, and professors from Japan and Seattle. Please visit Seattle Necchu School’s website at: https://www.necchu-seattle.org/.
This year, we are also excited to present Awa Odori at this year’s Japan Fair. Awa Odori is a famous dance that originates in Tokushima and is performed all over Japan. Seattle Necchu School will present lectures and demonstrations about Awa Odori, and we will even hold an Awa Odori dance contest!
