Our goal is to raise money to create a TV commercial or Public Service Announcement (PSA) to help educate ALL Long Islanders about Tourette's Syndrome (TS). TS and tic disorder is a neurodevelopment disorder that affects 1 in 100 children in the United States, and is characterized by tics.  Tics are repetitive involuntary movements and vocalizations. Tics happen anywhere and anytime and this makes everyday life a challenge. Sitting in a classroom, going to a movie, riding a bicycle, attending family functions are just a few examples of how TS affects everyday life. Parents, teachers, coaches, peers, and even healthcare providers all need to be educated about TS. Sometimes because of the severity of TS people with TS are often misunderstood, they are alienated, judged negatively, and often have missed opportunities because of their symptoms and the public reaction to them.
