My work as a nurse, doula, Midwifery Assistant, and Reproductive Justice Advocate have proven to be the most fullingly of my life. It has also been one of deep challenge and growth, in particular surrounding the disparity of infant mortality amongst women of my community here in Ohio. It's a story that we have had for far too long and it is one of the worst in the country.
As many of you know, I am working towards my Masters of Public Health with a concentration in Maternal Child Health. This comes after many years of amazing personal and professional experiences, and many Mamas and Babies, that I have been blessed with. All of these, have taught me more than I could have imagined in two lifetimes, let alone just one.
And, there is so much work ahead of us. The work in changing the story and moving out of trauma, into restoration; of looking at the Social and Structural Determinants of Health as the root causes, as we dig deeper into the why and put our voices at the center.
I need your support to get there in this upcoming semester as I work in my research practicum, along with continuing my coursework and balance my home life. There is a gap to be filled. I need your help to do it.
I ask you to support me in this journey, not because of me, but because of US. Consider a small donation to my campaign so I may continue the work in a way that will shift the story. All donations will go directly to filling the gap in tuition costs and living expenses (food, shelter) for myself and my children.
