Manda's Broken Ankle Bones

On February 13, I slipped in some mud. My body crashed down, and my ankle didn't come with me. I had to get surgery to move my ankle back into place, and I am now in a cast for my broken bones. The paperwork says "spiral fracture through the distal fibula with extension into the ankle mortise. Minimal medial angulation at the fracture site. There is also a fracture through the posterior distal tibia with intra-articular extension."

I'm out of work indefinitely, and as a 1099 worker, I'm not eligible for much of anything. I blew through my savings pretty fast, and after I pay rent on March 1, I'm basically out of money. I need to pay bills, eat food, install a railing that helps me get into my house, and (most importantly) pay my $295 health insurance bill on March 1 so I don't lose coverage. 

This has sucked. I had to buy a scooter that came to $180, surgery was $525, a weird leg condom for $20, $50 for the x-ray, $50 for the ortho, $50 for crutches, $20 for the painkillers my insurance didn't approve in time, $40 for a shower stool, $40 for a toilet throne, $300 Lyft pass despite living in a SUPER walkable area so I can get to my doctors (including surgery), premium fees for grocery delivery, assorted gadgets that make my house accessible for me (I live alone), etc.

I live in an English basement, so I have to go down a couple steps to get inside. It wouldn't be a problem, except the head clearance is very low -- and it is very, very scary. I need a railing installed pretty desperately so that I can get in and out by myself (I haven't had a quote yet), and my insurance covered. I can be a little late on my insurance, but since I likely won't be working and getting paychecks before it's 30 days late, I don't know what else to do.
