Get Eddie Shore's Jersey for DOY!
Donation protected
Throughout the proud history of the Boston Bruins organization, fans have been blessed by getting to lay witness to some of the greatest defensemen to ever play the game - from current era players such as Zdeno Chara and Johnny Boychuk, through more recent legends like Ray Bourque, Brad Park...and the incomparable Bobby Orr. None, however, epitomize the true spirit of Boston and old time hockey quite like Eddie Shore. Shore began the tradition of blueline excellence for the black & gold as one of the NHL's first superstars. Playing from 1926-40, Shore won the Hart Trophy as league MVP four times, and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1947.
And now, a game worn jersey of Shore's from circa 1929-31 is up for auction.

Who should win this jersey? Why, none other than the folks at Days of Y'Orr, of course (www.daysofyorr.com)! Mixing hard hitting hockey analysis with an ample suppy of dick jokes, DOY is your one stop site for all of your Bruins-related entertainment needs. As the vanguards to a rich Boston hockey legacy, DOY would like to prevent such a storied treasure from falling into the hands of a soulless, cold, unappreciative douchebag. Or, worse yet, a Montreal fan.
Our plan is to raise a base amount of $25,000 to be able to bid on this jersey. If won, we will then mercilessly hack the shit out of it so that each of us has a piece to celebrate Shore's impact on our team and continue to inspire us to new levels of blogging greatness. And we will do this LIVE over the interwebs for everyone to enjoy!
Correction...Apparently spending this much money on a jersey only to destroy it with a pair of scissors is counterproductive and moronic. Therefore, we will be donating the jersey to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. Or, if they turn us away in light of Jon's "incident" in 2006, we will choose another Hall of Fame as a lucky recipient. Does Massachusetts have a Hall of Fame? How about a Massachusetts Hockey Hall of Fame? Fuck it...Maybe it'll wind up in a Buffalo Wild Wings! But wherever it winds up, rest assured it will be able to be enjoyed by ALL.
If we fall short of our goal, all proceeds will go to Boston Bruins Charities and the Cam Neely Foundation.
