Medical help for Katrina

My wonderful wife of 23 years, This is Katrina before the debilitating still undiagnosed condition took her life from her.She used to be a avid rider and fully commited mother of two fantastic children, now 17 and 19, and a lover of life. She motivated us continuously to be better and enjoy life ourselves more as a family. She was our center and her love of family and friends was inspiring.

She was always first to work hard and help getting her hands dirty, whatever was asked of her, and motivated us to do the same to help anyone that needed it.
She was funny and a joy to be around and always willing to smile and joke around!

But unfortunately 4 years ago, at age 41, that was all taken from her when her nerve condition that debilitates her started. It causes her extreme pain as well as sensations that overwhelm her mind on a daily basis.
We have been to countless appointments locally for injections, nerve blocks, medications, and even medical cannabis in hopes of finding anything to help ease her suffering. This suffering has lost Katrina everything. She has missed all of the children's activities, which hurts her severely as she never missed one before this started. She is unable to work as concentration as well as pain overwhelms her. She rarely is able to leave the house and huddles in suffering despite having pain medicines that have little effect helping any of it. She has always been an outgoing person and it saddens me daily to see her lose herself to this. She has lost touch with all of her friends that we were so close to and has missed all family functions because of this. She stays in bed or has to lay back in a chair in the family room most everyday.
We have been desperately searching for any doctor that will care enough to help us find an answer for her suffering. We have been to Mayo and the U of M and they have both informed her there is nothing more they can do to help. We have been to pain specialists that have given multiple nerve blocking injections and they also have said they have done all they can do. Despite all of this her suffering has continued and worsened and she is losing all hope.
Katrina's extreme sadness and suffering causes all of us to feel helpless in comforting her as dead ends with doctors have hope of getting her life back in some form fading... I have been a dedicated caregiver through these years and my words of hope and lifting are less and less effective as the suffering worsens despite the procedures.
We have found potential hope once again in a Doctor, unfortunately in California. His name is Irwin Goldstein, MD and Katrina has spoken to him at length about the Doctor's ability and willingness to use his team of Doctors to find a diagnosis or trigger to what is causing the suffering so that we can finally get the help she needs to get some portion of her life returned to her. Unfortunately, we are in Minnesota and the Doctor has told Katrina that the trip to California would take up to 1 week of varying visits of testing with her team before a diagnosis could be achieved and he doesn't take insurance but with the help we will be able to cover that as well.
This is where the plea begins. I am the only source of income for my family of 4 and we have gotten by with good medical insurance through my job but the expenses of medical bills and household expenses have kept us from having any savings for a trip of this magnitude despite the hope it gives. I will use a minimal amount necessary as we will find the cheapest place to stay and to transport her to the appointments she needs to get to. I have a new plan of shopping locally for meals that I can prepare at our hotel room to minimize the cost of food.
I know there are so many causes and hurting people out there and it troubles me to even ask for help as I try to do most myself but I do realize that this is beyond my reach despite desperately wanting to help my beautiful bride. Thank you for your time. I appreciate all of you that donate to all the causes.
