NOAH NEEDS A HEART TRANSPLANT
Donation protected
Noah is the youngest son of Erin and Chad, and he needs a new heart.
He has spent so much of his first 6 years in and out of hospital.
Erin and Chad received the news that their unborn child had a heart problem, and it was decided it would be safest for him to be born at Westmead, rather that Newcastle. On top of his heart problem Noah also was to born with a rare condition involving the absence of his spleen. Despite this the plan was a three step surgical plan. First surgery planned for day 4, then 3 months and the third between 3-5 years of age.
Noah hasn’t stuck to the plan. There have been extra hurdles for Noah at every turn, not much has gone to plan, Noah is always surprising his doctors.
Surgery 2 was delayed by six months as he wasn’t strong enough at the three month mark, he came through the surgery and was well, however the when the time came for surgery 3, Noah's function was just not quite right. By the end of 2017 Noah was having issues with a valve. Noah was just a few months into his first year at school in 2018 when they decided to replace the valve.
Noah was didn’t get quite get back to his usual self after this and by November Noah was being flown to Westmead in the Westpac Rescue Helicopter in a very bad way. Complications followed, Noah's body was shutting down. Noah had another surgery to replace the valve again which had clotted, Noah's Heart was damaged and two weeks later he had another surgery to put a pacemaker in place.
The hope was that Noah just needed time to get over all that had happened, his heart and other organs just needed time to heal. Unfortunately this wasn’t quite what happened. In February this year Noah was back in the Westpac helicopter and back to Westmead. This time it was an even longer stay and the hard news was given that Noah needs a new heart.
At this stage pediatric heart transplants are only available in Melbourne, and its usually a long anxious wait.
Those who know Erin and Chad know how they like to do things quietly and on their own, who don’t easily ask for help. But they are in need of all they help they can get now. We cant provide what they really need right now, but we can help to take away some of their burden and financial pressure. They have had already so much time off work with the events of the past year, now they are on the long road to waiting for a transplant, with many more long stays in hospital ahead.
Noah is an amazing little guy, with a cheeky smile and has overcome so much. Please help this family through this extremely difficult time. We want that smile back!
