Old Nick Williams Company Museum

Donation protected

The desire to reestablish the Old Nick Williams Distillery has remained strong since Nicholas Glen Williams’ death in 1913.  His widow, left with a 1,400 acre farm to operate, several children to raise, and 28,000 gallons of what North Carolina deemed “illegal” whiskey, believed her only option was to shut down the distillery.  Today, three generations later, the reopening of the distillery is becoming a reality.

However, the reestablishment of the distillery is only a small part of the story.  “Old Nick” is a large part of the Forsyth County, and even North Carolina, history.  It is the story of how a Revolutionary War hero began a business that would, several generations later bring international attention to this rural area.

Under the watchful eye of Glen Williams, the distillery was invited to set-up at the World’s Fair in Chicago in 1893.  Four years later, the distillery was represented at the Paris Exposition.  United States Presidents wrote thank you notes for whiskey delivered to their inaugurations.

Old Nick Williams Distillery has a rich history.  A history that the Williams family of the 21st century is eager to share with the public. It is our desire to establish a museum, located near the distillery, to honor the legacy from its humble beginnings in 1768 to present day.

This museum will allow the Williams family to fill-in the missing pieces of the story.  In a sense, it will help us finally “unlock the legend” and share our story with the world.

Your donation will be instrumental in making this happen.  We thank you in advance for the support!
