Lawsuit to Save our Future Parkland
Donation protected
After exceeding our first goal to raise money for good legal advice - raising over $3000 - the official legal battle to save our promised parkland has begun. Filings, motions, appeals, legal advice - it adds up - and we are in it to win it.
What you see in the above picture is a temporary installation - the Urban Flower field. It was always meant to double in size and become a groomed, amenity rich public park once the city-owned building next door was vacated.
The city of St. Paul's official position is to some day turn the entire block - surrounded by 1000's of households - into a park. It's why the Pedros buildings were torn down after they were generously donated.
BUT - some leaders are now attempting to SELL the city-owned land - no matter past agreements, resolutions, plans or promises that commit them otherwise.
Our neighborhood parkland has been sold away twice. The indoor Town Square Park and Museum Park around the McNally building. (Which, by the way, both sales resulted in bankruptcy.)
We must prevent the colossal mistake of converting potential and needed downtown parkland into a privately owned office building.
