Save Most Holy Trinity Church

On May 26, 2018, the weekend of the Feast day of The Most Holy Trinity, the Archdiocese of New York issued a decree relegating the Church of The Most Holy Trinity in Mamaroneck to profane but not sordid use.​ This decree, intended to close the church forever and sell it to the highest bidder, was appealed to Rome by three parishioners, James P. Maver, Esq., Terry O'Neill, and Irene Dolan. This appeal prevents the sale and deconsecration until the appeal has reached a conclusion. The appeal process was assisted by renowned canon lawyer Sr. Kate Kuenstler, PHJC, JCD. The appeal itself consists of two stages. The first, to the Congregation for the Clergy, and the second, to the Apostolic Signatura. The Congregation for the Clergy has recently advised that the appeal will be heard. The minimal costs of the first stage were borne by the appealing parishioners. For the second stage, the Apostolic Signatura requires the use and hiring of one of a list of approved canon lawyers. This, along with associated translation costs, will cost approximately $9,000. This sum will be needed to proceed with the second step once the Congregation for the Clergy responds (which will likely be in one year's time). To all of those who grew up in, or in any way care about, this beloved and historical church, THIS IS THE LAST, ONLY, AND BEST HOPE TO SAVE OUR BEAUTIFUL CHURCH!
