In-between the glistening waters of the Hudson River, the traffic of the Westside highway, and the towering buildings of Chamber St lies a 30+ year legacy, our best kept secret, the Stuyvesant High School Cheerleading Team!
The Cheerleading team has been in existence as early as 1980, but under the new direction of Head Coach Nicholas O’Stanton the team is ready to reach new heights!
Stuyvesant High Schools Cheerleading team plans to compete in the Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) Empire Regional competition in order to bid to compete in the UCA NHSCC (National High School Cheerleading Competition) in Orlando, Florida Feb. 2018Our goal will help offset the cost for all 32 members to attend the competition both our Junior Varsity Team of 20 and our Small Varsity Team of 12! These costs include round trip airfare for 32, hotel accommodations for each of our student-athletes and competition fees!
This is the opportunity of a life time and as hard as the students of Stuyvesant work this group deserves it more then anyone! Each year, about 26,000 of New York City's eighth-graders sit for the test for admission. Of this group the top scoring 5% receive chance at Stuyvesant's World Renown education.
As a specialized high school, Stuyvesant offers a wide range of Advanced Placementcourses. These courses focus on math, science, history, English, or the foreign languages. This give students various opportunities to earn college credit. Stuyvesant's foreign language offerings include Mandarin Chinese, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Latin, Japanese, and Spanish. This academia rigor allows for our students many who are first generation American to receive a private school education in a public school setting competing with the rest of the country in STEM fields.
With all this being said Stuyvesant's student-athletes passion for their sport of cheer doesn't take a back seat! Their love and devotion for the sport knows no bounds. They master their academics and still find time to cheer at every football game and be present at every event! We have alumni Cheering at elite schools from Harvard, Columbia to NYU and Binghamton. With your help this team will reach their dreams and Cheer at Nationals! Thank you for your support!
