Hello, I am 19 year-old Sam Chiet of Jupiter, Florida.
A surfer since I was 10 years old, I have always loved the ocean and I love dogs. I want to combine my
interests and start a small business teaching dogs how to surf.
Two years ago, I got started by Meg Weinberger, a local animal rescuer. She connected me with
meterologist Kait Parker. I worked with her mixed breed puppy Gator who earned second place at his first contest.
I recently did a test-run of this unique idea, in conjunction
with Furry Friends' Hang 20 Surf Dog Classic event, held August 29, 2015 here in Jupiter.
In the weeks preceding the event, I held clinics, working with twenty dogs, teaching them and their owners
surfing basics and safety while giving the dogs confidence on the water.
At Hang 20, six of the dogs I worked with placed in the top three of their heats, earning SEVEN trophies!
I want to start a business, "SuFUR Dogs" to bring this experience around the state of Florida to
dog-friendly beach towns, promoting responsible ownership, safety, respect for nature (the ocean),
and having fun with your dog.
My manager (mom) said I need to raise money for the following:
Professionally designed logo for promotional merchandise
Website, online marketing, graphic design
Proper licensing & insurance
Soft top surf boards & dog vests
Equipment, including beach gear
Photographer/videographer/drone services
GoPro + accessories (for the dogs)
Attend seminars/training on dog behavior
Part time staff on call, as needed
