Vieques, PR Relief Fund
Donation protected
Vieques, a small island of Puerto Rico with 10,000 residences and beautiful wild horses took a direct hit from Category 5 Hurricane Maria. The island was desimated and the people are in dire need.
My husband and I have owned a home on the island of Vieques for 12 years. We have been fortunate enough to introduce a number of people to the beautiful island and residents of Vieques. Many of our guests have reached out wanting to help. Our love for Vieques has impassioned us to find a way to connect that desire to help directly to the island.
We will be traveling in person to the island to bring in urgently needed, life sustaining supplies, medication, sattelite phones, first aid and basic needs. We will take a first hand assessment of the situation in order to coordinate future relief.
This will be a long term on-going relief process. Updates will be posted to this site upon our return and as information is gathered.
All monetary donations will fund the purchase of medications, first aid supples, satelite phones and on-going basic human needs, along with direct transport to the island of Vieques.
At this time, aid from private citizens is serving as the lifeline to Vieques and its people. The people of Vieques just got the first satelite phones enabling them to finally contact the outside world this week thanks to private citizens. They are without food, water, medication, money, fuel and electricity. The need is great but we believe, that with the help of others, we can make a difference.
