Dear friends, we are devestated to share with you this news. Our beautiful sanctuary of hope and learning, which once looked like this:

All our precious children and our staff are safe and well. As the children were preparing for bed in the dark since their had been a power outage the power came back on with a surge. It is understood that the fire started in the electrical wiring in the roof above the girls' bathroom. The staff had just enough time to get all the children and themselves outside. We are so thankful for our staff members Sada and Rachel who risked their own safety making many trips inside the burning house, and to Mugaka and other heroes who were equally brave, and whose actions certainly saved the lives of our children.
There was no time to save anything in the house but the children, the staff, and the pyjamas on their backs. All of our food and possessions are gone. The bedrooms are gone. The classrooms are gone. The computer room is gone. The toys and the children's possessions are gone. Everything is gone.
We are in dire need of your support. We are really in need of money now as we are starting from scratch. Just finding a deposit for a new house is going to be difficult. The food store alone had about $600 of food in it. Literally all we have now is pajamas.
