Help Fund Jessica’s bad eggs!
We need funding
Hello! We are Jessica Hood and Rachelle Miguel co-founders of unladylike co. In 2020 our theatre production of Jessica’s play bad eggs was placed on hold due to COVID-19; for this 2021 summer bad eggs is back on track, this time as a film/theatre hybrid! While we have received some funding from the Canada Council, we made our request for when bad eggs was set to be a live theatre presentation. Now that we’ve shifted to a film/theatre hybrid, we need some extra help funding our post-production artists. The amount we’re asking for is $2,500.
Who are we
unladylike co. was formed with a mission to create female-driven theatre that provides opportunities for women, trans and cis, LGBTQIA2+, non-binary, and people of color to have their stories and work represented. Check out our webpage to get to know us better.
The story
bad eggs is about Persephone and Hades, who have been trying to have a baby for nearly a year with no luck. Growing anxious, Persephone decides to see the fertility doctor, Eve, who also happens to be her mother. Problem is, Eve hasn’t spoken to her since she eloped with Hades. To make matters worse, Persephone has debilitating panic attacks whenever she tries to leave the house. Her world crumbling around her, Persephone must discover who she really is, aside from being a wife and daughter. From a feminist and dark comedic lens, bad eggs explores the parallels between two women who ate “forbidden fruit.”
