14yr Old Post Op With Struggling Mom
Not sure where to begin... I am a single mother with two grown children out of the nest and my third and youngest is now post op. He had a total colectomy, meaning that his large colon and rectum was removed during a 12+ hr surgery. They used his small intestine to make a j-pouch to replace the rectum. He has a temporary ileostomy so that his newly created rectum has time to heal. This means in 6-8 weeks he'll need a second surgery for the takedown of the ileostomy.
I have my own health issues that I have battled with throughout the years. Including having the same surgeries due to the same genetic disease, Gardner's Syndrome. I also have had a total hysterectomy due to a cancer scare and the higher risk for cancer. I have been battling diabetes and have reversed my symptoms and need for insulin in a year's time. Through everything, I have continued to work 1-3 jobs at a time. I've also continued to struggle, most of it due to being a single mother and having higher medical bills for my youngest son and I.
The last few years the struggle has been taking its toll on me and my home. I have cut back on work due to not being able to do it as much physically plus needing to be home more with my son, especially during this time period. I still work 45 hrs or more a week except for the next few weeks when I am off work with him. However, I do not have enough PTO to cover my leave. We were struggling as it was, I am behind on my mortgage, I have turned to churches for food, and on top of it my house is in disarray. I have mold growing in the bathrooms which need extensive repairs and I need to replace the flooring in the whole house. I wanted to have everything completed prior to my son coming home from surgery. To bring him home to a more functional and safe home that we're both not embarrassed of. I will be doing the work myself so it will cut back on costs. The amount I am asking for is enough to complete just the necessities, to catch up on mortgage, and to pay off a couple of bills. It's not enough to take care of everything but would be enough to keep my head above water.
Thank you for any assistance.
