Kathy Thurman’s Memorial Fund

In my mother's hospital room, she passed surrounded by laughter and fried chicken- a fitting tribute to a woman who loved both. Those who loved her stayed by her side and told stories of a life well lived. Of a mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend.
On May 9th, 2019 Kathy Lucille Thurman (nee Trautman) passed from this world after a brief and sudden illness. Born in 1953 she spent much of her life in Aberdeen/Montesano but if you were to ask her where she was from she'd say Chehalis. With a love for the outdoors and a distaste for the city, the bucolic nature of Chehalis suited her just fine.
Her love of flowers and growing things was contained only by the size of her yard. Years past had meant trips to the Oregon Coast and camping trips with friends- neither was complete without her trusty pillow in the car with her. A family owned restaurant instilled in her a love of cooking and a fierce work ethic. Kathy was a kind soul, never wanting to be a burden and always helping out.
She leaves behind a large extended family including children (Korey Falk, Dusti (and Kelsey) Mahoney and Cayson (and Talisa) Thurman, grandchildren (Sam, Zoie and Emma Thurman and Fitz Mahoney) and siblings (Pam Derkland, Sharon Marbut, Scott (and Cindy) Trautman, Fred Trautman and Chris (and Ken) Ringering). Her laugh and jokes will be missed at family gatherings, Boston Harbor, Weyerhauser and Sherwood Farms.
Kathy will be cremated and laid to rest with her mother, so that neither will be alone.
We are honoring her legacy with a Memorial Service on June 22nd at Albee Gardens in Olympia at 1:00pm, all are welcome.
