Dillon's Dinobikes!!
My name is Colleen Leonard. I am a wife and Mom who is active in my community. Besides raising my own three wonderful kids I am very active in the local Special Olympics group. In their own way, each of these kids are also one of my own.
Dillon is one of many special needs children who wants to ride a bicycle. Because he is unable to ride a typical bicycle, his parents bought him an adult trike for his 13th birthday. Dillon spent part of every day on his trike. Until the day that someone stole his trike from the shed in his yard.
The community quickly rallied around Dillon to find his trike. Sadly, to no avail. As thanks for the many kindnesses that I have received over the years, I bought Dillon a new trike. I was soon overwhelmed by the response from people everywhere far and near who were willing to donate money towards the new trike. As the new trike was being delivered, Dillon’s original trike was found and returned to him. In the meantime, a third trike was donated to Dillon by a family we had never met. Three trikes were now available for three kids where once there were none. The anticipated smiles on these faces told me what I needed to do.
And so, Dillon’s DinoBikes was born.
I want to continue this act of kindness for all special individuals who just want to ride a bike in their yard and down their street. Each adult trike is $300.00. My initial goal is to raise $6000.00 to provide 20 special needs kids with a trike all of their own.
I would like to give back a little bit of the love and joy they have given me for so many years!!!
