Help survivors of sexual assault
Tax deductible
We have watched the recent #MeToo campaign unfold, and honor the original work of Tarana Burke . We’ve been inspired and humbled by the vulnerability and courage of so many people in our community who are speaking out against sexual violence.
Like all communities, our arts community is infected with misogyny, sexism, and attitudes of entitlement toward women’s bodies. Our own personal experiences with sexual discrimination, harassment, and violence helped bring the St. Pete Women’s Collective into being.
We launched the Collective in January, 2017, as an intentional safe space for women, femmes, and allies to create, share, and build community around values of equality, safety, body autonomy, and self-expression (see our full mission here) .
In support of our community, the St Pete Women's Collective would like to facilitate a monthly #MeToo event for sexual assault survivors who need a safe space to talk, listen, be heard, and be seen.
We launched our first in the series in November, 2017, with nearly 20 participants over three hours . We laughed, we cried, we made art, and we made connections. The night was truly therapeutic and participants asked us to continue. (See artifacts from the evening on the wall below).

In meeting a true community need, the St. Pete Women's Collective would like to remove the financial barriers to this therapeutic healing by fundraising. Your donation will cover the cost of having a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with experience in sexual assault and trauma treatment facilitate the two hour long events on a monthly basis. It will also costs of art supplies utilized for creative expression in the events. Any additional funds raised through this campaign will go to our organization's general fund.
We are currently fundraising for this project for 2018.
Thank you for your love and support. Together we can #resist.
