A Wheelchair for Helen
Donation protected
The news article of Saturday's fire in Wolseley, Winnipeg, MB touched me because I am a parent of a disabled young man. One of my worst fears as a single mom, was what happens if there was a fire, as it would be so difficult for me to get him out of the house.
Neda provided a news story to CBC explaining her panic this past weekend on how she feared not being able to get her sister out of the house and feeling trapped by the flames.
They have lost everything. But the biggest difficultly is Helen's wheelchair was lost due to the fire. It needs replaced and she cannot leave the hospital until one is located.
I am part of a community regarding those with disabilities. I have seen in recent months what we can do as a community to help those whose voice is not being heard.
I felt I could reach out to my own community and ask them for help. Whether it be gently used clothing, purchased personal items, furniture that you thought you may get a few dollars from an upcoming garage sale, we could help them out.
The number one thing we need is a new wheelchair for Helen, so she can leave the hospital and gain her freedom back.

We have shown time and time again that we are a community who cares. We are stepping up to the plate and breaking down boundaries.
Thank you.

**please note - at this time I do not know the specific needs of the wheelchair. All funds will be used towards the wheelchair cost and anything extra will be given to them for replacement of personal items**
