Hi everybody! I'm writing this post on behalf of my sleeping best friend (they haven't slept in days because of this whole mess, so I'll let them sleep!) and their beloved baby boy, Simon.
Simon is a year and a half old cat, and was recently diagnosed with FLUTD. If you don't know, FLUTD (Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease), is a common but life threatening disease in which either stress or crystals block the cat's urethra & they're unable to pee, which can either cause a rupture or kidney failure, both of which are fatal.
He blocked twice this week.
We've already spent $750 on the initial emergency visit and catheter on Tuesday, and ~$1,300 on the hospitalization (which was 90% paid for by donations) he had to go through when he reblocked on Friday. Unfortunately, we're both in dire financial situations and have spent our rent and food money on this.
There is a surgery called PU (Penial Urethrectomy) which can widen his urethra and make it so these blockages will happen much less often, if at all.
Here's where you can help: all of the surgery options where we live in the Boston area are $4000+, but we found an option in Manchester, NH that caps at $1400. No hidden fees. Through my continued fundraising, we've got $800 as of now. The surgery costs $1200-$1400 max, so all we need is $600 and his help will be guaranteed.
Simon is just a baby, he deserves to have a happy full life, and anything we can do to make that possible we'll do.
