A Home for Lori

Sometimes very small things can make a big impact on our lives. Like the arrival of a baby. And small acts of kindness can have the power to completely transform our day. When someone lets you out in traffic, for instance. Or pays for your coffee. Or holds the door for you. Just a little kindness shown even has the ability to change more than just a person's day. It could in fact change their lives. I want to let you know about an opportunity to do exactly this - change someone's life for the better by doing something small for someone small (in stature), but big in heart.

Lori Ann is tiny - just a little whisp of a lady at 4’ 5”. She was born with many challenges - what our society calls "disabilities" - but beyond all odds she has overcome most of them to become as functional as she can be. But she still has too many physical issues to hold a regular job. She's a little powerhouse of love and care though, and tries to lookout for everyone else. But right now, she needs some looking out for.

Lori Ann is my aunt. She moved to Charleston last year to be near to us, but her circumstances have changed and taken a turn for the worst. The place she was living fell through. Try as we might, we were not able to find any affordable housing for her. Not in Charleston, or any of the surrounding areas. We have called every agency, charity, and shelter we can find to ask for help, but even though she is disabled citizen, every single one has been a closed door. Right now, my aunt is living in a tent in a campground because she has nowhere else to go. She has had to abandon all of her belongings except for her two dogs. But she is still hopeful that things will improve. And I'm confident that they will.

What I'm asking my friends to consider doing is this:

#1) Remember Lori in your prayers. She needs protection and encouragement.

#2) Donate if you can. We are raising money to purchase an older (but structurally sound) RV so that Lori Ann can have a safe place to call home that can't be taken away from her. In about a month the weather will turn cold, and a tent is no place to ride out the winter, especially for someone with health issues. I've found decent smaller RV's for sale in a price range that I think is attainable with a little group effort. If you can give, even the smallest amount, it will resonate in a huge way in this precious lady's heart forever. If you’d like to be a part of providing a home for a sweetheart who needs a helping hand, please give.  All money raised will go first to purchasing an RV home, and then to Lori for food and other needs.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
