Help the Russell Family
Brian is a kind hearted, generous and loving man. He is willing to do anything he can to help anybody out. He loves to spend time outside and with his family. He is devastated that over the last few years he has not been able to do as much as he used to.
Since 2009 Brian has suffered from a medical illness which appeared to be foreign among the general Canadian societywhich made diagnosis, let alone treatment extremely hard to find. Up until 2012, Brian spent his time being turned down from doctor to doctor who could not give him a stable answer on what form of illness he has while struggling to support three kids and a wife. It was not until he was informed by a Lyme Disease group about the various common symptoms they shared that he had a general idea about what may be going on with him. From that point, Brian decided to take a Lyme Disease test which could be sent to California. Months later, the results came back as positive for Lyme Disease, an illness he was told he has had since 1996. Once diagnosed with Lyme Disease the only way he could get treatment was to travel to New York every few months because no doctors were willing to treat this disease here. Treatment for this disease is very expensive and hard on one's body therefore it was difficult to do especially when having to travel to New York. In 2014 Brian suffered from a heart attack which presumably was caused by the Lyme Disease as it tends to shut down various organs. From that point on Brian has spent the majority of his time alone in bed, feeling hopeless because no one could really help him. More things began to occur as the Lyme Disease treatments became too much for Brian to handle. He had developed throat problems which doctors considered to be strep throat, repaetedly. After more than one false diagnosis over the past year, doctors have diagnosed him with Throat Cancer which can be only treated in Saint John.Brian found out on November 4th that he has Throat Cancer and is beginning Radiation and Chemo Starting before Christmas for a minimum of seven weeks, Monday to Friday.
Brian is in need of this money to help with travel and for medication, also to help support his family.
Brian is also known by his friends as Brian Hallett.
