Wendy's lymphedema surgery
Donation protected
Two of my daughters have had hysterectomies for cancer. Both of them have lymphedema from removal of lymph nodes. One of them has very good insurance, and they paid for her to have lymphedema surgery. (She had it in one leg) She no longer has the swelling and pain related to the lymphedema.
My other daughter is another story. She has it in both legs. This is a disease that is very painful, and her legs are swollen all the time. Her insurance will not pay for her to have the surgery. She has a full time job, but very seldom is there full time. She has been going 45 miles 3 times a week to a therapist to massage and wrap her legs. Her insurance won't pay for all of that either. (She has a very patient and understanding employer)
When her legs are wrapped, she can't bend her knees, so it limits her activities. She spends a lot of time with her legs elevated to reduce the swelling. She misses out on a lot of life events, because of the pain. She is on pain meds that she would like to get off.
If she could have the surgery that her sister had, we feel that it would greatly improve her life.
The money would be used for her to have surgery and also for treatment and supplies.
The sooner she could have the surgery, the better it would be. Her surgeon only does one surgery per week, as it is a very intricate surgery.
As her mother, it breaks my heart to see her suffer so much. I would be so thankful if anyone could see their way to help her.
