Save The Oglesby Pool

Donation protected
This fall or early next year, the Oglesby swimming pool will have to undergo extensive repairs in order to open.

Those repairs are expected to cost almost $90,000.  That figure is above and beyond the normal $15,000 to $20,000 operating deficit the pool fund incurs each year.   The City is simply not in a position to make those repairs without help.

When the pool was built  47 years ago, businesses and private citizens came forward with monetary donations.  Those business owners and citizens recognized the positive aspects a swimming pool would bring to the city and its residents.

A committee of local citizens (STOP) has formed to help raise funds for the necessary repairs.  As we've seen in other local communities, once a pool closes, it almost never reopens.  We do not want this to happen in Oglesby.

We appreciate any help you can possibly offer in helping to reach our goal to keep the Oglesby pool open.  We know there are many people -- long gone from the Illinois Valley area -- who still remember the lazy days of childhood spent at the Oglesby pool.  Your donation will help us continue to ensure that future generations will share those same memories.

Please call Oglesby City Hall if you have questions about this effort.  Updates and more information can be found on the city's Facebook page as well.

(Please note, Becky Clinard is Oglesby's City Clerk.  GoFundMe accounts require a "real" person to own this account, however any and all funds will go to the STOP pool fund. )
