Esperance Farmers Fire Appeal

Donation protected
The fires, which have torn through areas surrounding Esperance including Salmon Gums, Grass Patch and Stockyard Creek, since last week, have claimed the lives of local residents and have damaged property, crops and equipment.

The Esperance community has been inundated with offers of hay since fires started throughout the Shire of Esperance, however the hay limit has now been reached and other practical items and services are now the priority.

Cash donations, assistance on the ground, and donations of grain online to WAFarmers’ LoadNet account (Customer Number: 2024 7953) are urgently needed to support farmers in their efforts to rebuild their lives and livelihoods.

WAFarmers recognised the outstanding outpouring of support from the whole country, and encouraged people to make donations towards the purchase of practical items.

“The generosity of the whole country has been overwhelming, and we ask them to continue to dig deep to support the rehabilitation and recovery of our farmers by redirecting their donations towards practical items, cash donations and manual labour,” WAFarmers President Dale Park said.

“One hundred per cent of funds received through donations to WAFarmers will be redirected to the farmers, helping them to purchase much needed items such as polypipe, troughs and fencing.

“Tradesmen are particularly in demand right now, as farmers work towards reconnecting their electricity and plumbing.

“While other appeals have been established, the WAFarmers Esperance Appeal ensures donations of money, grain and other items or services will be supplied to the people that need it most – the farmers.”
