Book Release and West Coast Tour!!
Spende geschützt
Yup! That’s our family. We hope you enjoyed our book trailer and would like to hear about our plans with this Go Fund Me.
PURPOSE:
Our greatest hope is that we are able to self-publish, The Family Portrait: A Journey of Hope Through the Eyes of the Fatherless, which has been years in the making (technically, Tim’s whole life if you count the storyline *wink wink*) and take our story across the country this summer on a living room tour. We ultimately decided to self-publish keeping 100% control over the content, design, and marketing. While it’s freeing not having anyone tell us how to do things creatively, we figured out real quick that people love publishers because they invest in you financially and open doors to market your brand. So, no publisher/agent…no moolah to get you out there.
We have been encouraged and championed by so many friends, our family and followers to go for it—getting our help from Y’ALL! (Howdy from Texas) We were both raised without a lot of money so the numbers *cha-ching* kind of freak us out. Recently, I quit my job as a teacher to live out these family dreams and work to get it off the ground. Caring for our boy, making more book edits (they never end, do they?), prepping for print, and managing Tim as speaker has become my full time gig. While, Tim still works as a window cleaner in the day to provide for our family and works on his book and music at night + offers to speak at local churches & organizations in his spare time. It feels like we are both working non-stop and just making ends meet (I’m not complaining…but you know how that is, right?) So here is the break down on why we are asking for what feels like a ba-jillion dollars:
FUNDING:
SELF-PUBLISH PRINTING $15,000 *EDITED*
We will start with 2000 first edition copies. The rough estimate is about $6 per book. We plan for the book to be a visual journey along with the narrative, so there are tons of pics and journal scans from our life to enrich the story. This amount also includes payment for the book design team at Hanson Imageworks in our hometown.
DESIGN/EDITING $5000
· book editing/revisions
· website art/construction/maintenance
· photo mock-up materials/design for photo layout
SUMMER TOUR $6000
The tour (July 22-August 25) will take us from East Texas all the way through Santa Fe, Southern California up the coast to the Bay Area, Northern Cali, and finally we will arrive in Portland a month later and fly home. We plan to stop in 10+ cities, with at least one speaking gig in each city. The funds will cover the following:
· Van rental (from Lax to Portland for one month) our car would sooo not make it, haha.
· Care-giver (our son is severe on the autism spectrum and requires extra attention/help for full-quality life) a part of these funds will provide for the costs of an on-the-road 24-7 caregiver to ease his/our burdens. Tim and I are both involved with the music/speaking aspect of the living room events so we will need help, especially on those evenings…not to mention help with the meltdowns, bedtime, and adjusting to the most “non-routine” routine he has ever experienced.
· Food (for 3 adults and our son…who eats more than the average adult)
· Lodging (for 4, in the cities we are without a host)
· Flights (the month long road trip will push all of us to the limit…especially while ministering to others, but mostly we anticipate this will be our son’s tipping point. Instead of driving back home, we will all fly home as a family.
BILLS/HOME INCIDENTALS $4000
· Since Tim will be out of his paying job for a month, he will not be compensated and we will still have expenses at home. We hope if you help, we will come back to a house with running water and electricity, (hehe) but really.
**That was a bit much with all of the expense explanations, but when it comes to money, we want to be very transparent. We have also erred on higher pricing to be safe. But, if you know us well, you know our heart and trust we will be good stewards of our funds.
TIME FRAME
The book will go to print July 11th (our first deadline) so we will have copies to bring on tour. After that, we are praying for enough from this campaign to have at least some tour + home expenses covered by July 22nd. Other listed monies to support all those who have helped us can come at later dates, as there is not a “time-crunch” so-to-speak.
THANK YOU
Being quite frank, I really hate asking for help—especially for money, but this is where we have been led. It is humbling and terrifying, but I trust only good can come from sharing stories of redemption and hope and helping each other out in the process. So thank you for reading this: even if you decide not to donate, maybe you can ask someone who could by sharing this link and/or praying for us.
Time and time again, we have been encouraged that there are people who believe in our story, in the power of a testimony, and in this journey. If that is you, we deeply and whole-heartedly thank you. Your donation is helping assist in people’s freedom from shame, light breaking from darkness and the spreading of love!
*Our book also will shed light on both mental illness and special needs. We hope to demonstrate not just awareness, but how to love each other better in the midst of it all.
Much love and thanks from the Frost clan,
Tim, DeAnda and Odin
