Emily's fight back
Donation protected
My oldest friend Rachel recently took her family away for a weeks holiday to Eygpt & whilst there her 10 year old daughter Emily became unwell & was admitted to a clinic where she was rehydrated & later sent back to their hotel. After returning to England 7 hours later she was still poorly with sickness & diarrhoea so attend our local hospital where she then blue lighterd to St Thomas's in London due to all her vital organs shutting down.
She has been on dialysis due to her kidneys failing, on a ventilator as she was unable to breathe for herself & her heart was not pumping like it should.
Emily went through multiple tests but all came back negative & a discussion was had as to whether it was a virus that was attacking her brain & her organs & the doctors wanted to try a new drug to try & stop it.
Emily had a dip in her blood pressure so needed blood transfusion.
The doctors put Emily on the drug they discussed but in turn this turned off your your immune system which put her at higher risk of infection.
After a week at St Thomas's Emily came off the ventilator & many of the machines which were keeping her organs alive as they were also no longer needed.
Emily is still not producing urine yet so is still on dialysis but she is now on the renal ward & out of ICU
In in the last 48 hours she has acquired an infection which has now made her very vulnerable again as she has no natural defence to fight it.
The reason for this fund raising is that Emily's mum Rachel is currently staying in London & unable to return to work so finances are reduced. The monies raised will help towards buying food, transport costs, family parking fees & giving the family a break away once Emily is fully recovered.
