SHAMEFINGER GOT ROBBED, PLEASE HELP
Donation protected
Hi. We're Shamefinger, a scrappy pop-punk band from Memphis, Tennessee.
The rumors are true, during Punk-Fest, Party Pat, our Guitarist/vocalist, had his truck broken into. Our entire backline (That is to say: guitars, bass, amplifiers, heads, cabinets, cables, pedals - everything other than our drums), including Donnie Anthem from Banned Anthem's bass amp, which he had so generously let us borrow, was taken. We weren't the only ones targeted by this, Tyler Miller and Ivy Miller from SVU's PA system was stolen, and you can contribute to their fund HERE.
Many of our friends have been keeping an eye out on Craigslist and visiting pawnshops and asking around town about any shady types trying to sell shady music gear, but we haven't heard anything substantial in weeks. The police are currently investigating, but sadly, that road, too, has become a bit disheartening.
.
The amazing thing is that since this happened, we've received nothing but support and love from the Memphis music scene. Shelby Pruden from Hauteur, Brando Little from The Gloryholes, and Brennan Whalen from Heels have personally donated guitars and a bass to us, but now it's coming down to the wire- we have shows lined up, music to record, and even our first tour to start. We've been using borrowed gear- which is nothing short of AMAZING, but we need to replace what was lost. (Trying to troubleshoot something that doesn't belong to you while you're supposed to be playing a solo is a bit difficult.) We need to practice with our instruments, we need to get to know them, to love them, and to be proficient with them- after-all, everything has it's own little quirks, sweet spots, and hidden super-powers. We need to know and understand these before we hit the road, the stage, and the studio.
We won't lie. It's difficult asking for help. We have striven to be as D.I.Y. as possible because we've loved, loved, LOVED bringing something to life with our own hands, nurturing it, tweaking it, and watching it grow. There's a certain amount of pride in that, or so we thought. But the truth of the matter is that every time we have put our egos to the side and let someone help us in the past, we've grown as a band, and I would like to think that our music reflects this.
So here it is- (inhales deeply) WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We need cables, pedals, pics, strings, straps, instrument cases, amplifier heads, instrument cabinets- everything except a new drum kit.
We need money to replace this, and we just don't have it.
I know not many people have that the kind of cash to spare. It's tough times and a lot of people are having to live lean. That can be a deterrent to even the most well-meaning person, but the beauty of our species is that we're at our very best when we cooperate. If everyone could jut chip in $5.00, we could make this back in no time, and you would have helped to produce the return of a band who really, really loves you.
We need about $4,000 to replace everything that was taken from us (that is if we were to buy it all used on Ebay), but we can make do for about $2,600. I know it's a lot, but we have a lot of money invested in what we lost, and even more memories and sweat, blood, and tears.
Plus, before we even think about spending a penny on ourselves, we have to first replace Donnie's amp. This scene is a family, and we don't forget what our family has done for us.
So if you can, toss a five spot our way, and maybe share this page- if enough people hear about this, and enough people can spare some change, we can be right back in your favorite venue doing our best to get you to shake your butts.
And again, thank you for the incredible love and generosity that this scene- our punk rock family, has already shown to us. If it weren't for all of you, we would have never made it this far.
Please, please do what you can to help us keep going.
