Bring on the Beers

After trading continously for 105 years the historic Strath Creek Hotel closed its doors on the 16th of February 2014. This is a campaign to bring the old pub back to life.
Strath Creek is an easy 90 minute drive north from the Melbourne CBD and is nestled at the bottom of the picturesque valley of a thousand hills between the towns of Broadford and Yea. With Mount Disapointment to the south east and Tallarook state forest to the north west the district is a popular 4WD, trail bike, mountain bike and horse riding destination. The main road through the town is part of a popular tourist route with motorcyclists and car clubs, as the winding country roads take them through the best scenic drive of the forests from Healsville, Toolangi and Kinglake. The Victorian motorcycle complex is only a ten minute drive away and the Victorian horse riding association almost next door. The small town itself has amazing facilities with an abundance of parklands, tennis courts and free BBQ undercover. Directly opposite the hotel is the Strath Creek reserve with its massive old oak trees, children's playground, free BBQ and green grass all year round. It really is an oasis even in the midst of our hot Aussie summers. To my knowledge there is no other place like it that's so close to Melbourne.
We secured the purchase of the pub in November 2014 and have since been painstakingly restoring the building to reflect the golden ages of the great Australian country pub that it formally was, but it hasn't been easy and we need your help.
Before we can open our doors to serve you with some of the best beers in the world accompanied by equally great and astounding pub grub or coffee we are required to upgrade; the toilet amenities and waste treatment facilities, and the kitchen facilities to comply with current standards. Most importantly we want to upscale our brewery from the small pilot system to a commercially viable piece of equipment so we can reproduce on a large scale the most awesome beers. To date only a few hundred lucky people have had the opportunity to enjoy the beers.
So who are we?
We are the Brews!
- Allan: Engineer, Brewer, car bike and beer enthusiast.
- Wendy: Hard working wife and mum, Pastry chef and
chocolatier.
- Kyle: (teenage son) Drives a cool car, musician, and assistant brewer at one of Melbourne's premier craft breweries.
-Julia and Jessica: (teenage daughters) both attend the local high school, continually find new ways to test the mental strength of their parents.
We need your help to establish a venue that can be enjoyed by all. We lost everything but the clothes on our backs when the Australian government canned the manufacturing industry that formally supported us. With a crap load of hard work and help from family and friends we have got so close to being able to open the doors.
So please get on board and get behind something great so that you can visit us one day and enjoy great food and beer in a great atmosphere. Plus know that you are directly responsible for helping to make the pub/brewery happen. We will even shout you a free beer or coffee!!
