Help build Embedded Linux better!
Donation protected
Any open source project benefits from what's called "Continuous Integration": constant, automated builds of all the source code in the project. This flushes out new bugs as they enter, in particular, and tightens the cycle from development to deployment, considerably.
For 4 years now I have been contributing compute resources from the google cloud, to the openwrt project. With the startup of the lede-project.org reboot of openwrt - I felt they needed more compute resources, so I turned up a new 16 cpu build server just for them... which they made full use of! - which looks to be costing about 500-600 dollars a month, popping out 7 or more new builds a day.
The benefits of faster, better, less buggy development should be apparent to all those that are creating products based on Linux - to be able to reach for a new build, and expect it to work, is a huge savings in cost and reduction in risk for all concerned.
And - for me - committing long term to 600 dollars a month is quite a lot! I certainly can't sustain that for more than a a few months. I'd like it if others (corporate users especially!) fired up and donated their own resources in the cloud to the build cluster, or helped pay for this contribution of mine. So my hope in this campaign would be to at least cover the cost of this contribution to lede, and, maybe, donors willing, expand it.
