Comfort for Deputy Vandenberg

One of our heroes, Chad Vandenberg, was seriously injured when he bravely confronted a man who had just shot and wounded a fellow Deputy. Chad was shot once in the shoulder, and the damage done is more serious than initially thought. Chad faces a long, difficult recovery. This page is our way of trying to cushion the blow to Chad and his family in any way we can. As many know, Chad is the father of four young children and took his role as the provider for his family very seriously. Like many Deputies, he worked OT to pay for school, sports, and activity fees. He worked above and beyond his 40 hours to take his family on vacation or take his beautiful wife out to dinner. Chad will not be able to go above and beyond for his family for quite some time, so it's time we go above and beyond for him. The Vandenbergs are a family of strong faith, and while they ask only for prayers, let's exceed their expectations and show our love to this family who has already sacrificed so much.

I would rather not post this, but alas I must. My name is Michelle Draper and my relationship to Chad and Amy is that my husband and I are their very good friends. In addition, my husband and Chad worked out of Lakewood station together for four years. We are located in Lakewood, and the family will receive this money via an electronic transfer from Go Fund Me.
