Quaboag Community Summer Theatre has served as an outlet for local creativity and theatrical passion since its reinstatement in 2011, and it has been our mission to provide our participants with the tools needed to perfect their craft, and to make each summer a rewarding and enjoyable experience.
Last summer, QCST disaffiliated from the Quaboag Regional High School Drama Club to transition into an independent community theatre organization. By doing so, we began with a total of $0. Rather than close the curtains on the group yet again, QCST decided that "the show must go on!"
Royalties for the show, along with the cost of costumes, sets, sound equipment, and performance space all add up quickly. Our 2015 production would not have happened if it were not for the generous donations and support from our incredible sponsors.
We are currently in the process of rehearsing for our 2016 summer musical, INTO THE WOODS, which will play August 5th and 6th.
There are many expenses with producing a show of this size, and due to budget constraints of the school district, we must pay for use of the Quaboag Regional High School auditorium and custodial staff this year. This is adding approximately $1,000 to our overhead. The rights to license the show cost $1,265, and costumes and set pieces must also be purchased or created.
Individuals wishing to help underwrite production costs with a donation will be acknowledged in the program and receive special benefits:
ENSEMBLE (up to $99) — listing in the program
SUPPORTING ROLE ($100-199) — listing in the program, plus 2 complimentary tickets to the show
LEADING ROLE ($200 and above) — listing in the program, plus 4 complimentary tickets to the show
The arts are extremely important and we hope our organization will continue to make an impact on the community. Educational research has shown that students who participate in theatre programs benefit in many ways and often improve academically. So whether you have enjoyed our performances in the past, want to support a family member or friend, or just have a love of theatre, we hope that you will consider supporting our new organization and help us reach our goal.
