Shannon and Sport's Medical Expense

Donation protected
On July 6, 2016 Shannon and Sport were out for their daily morning run on 14th Ave. in Ambridge Pa when they were ferociously mauled by two dogs. By the time the ambulance and officers had arrived Shannon had lost a dangerous amount of blood. She was then rushed to Alleghany General Hospital for lifesaving treatment. Sport was escorted back to his home by the Ambridge police, when relatives of Sport went to check on his wellbeing he was covered in blood and had deep lacerations on his neck and back. Sport was then rushed to vet where he too was treated for his injuries sustained from trying to save his mother during the vicious attack. Shannon and Sport underwent surgery at almost the same exact time (in different hospitals of course). Shannon received surgery on her left shoulder where the dog bite was so bad her bone had been exposed and a majority of her muscles were shredded. The surgery took longer than expected. Her surgeon said this was one of the worse dog bites he had ever seen, he disinfected and sewed every muscle he could back together, 3 drainage tubes were inserted to ease swelling. The surgeon explained, it may be too early to tell if there will be permeant nerve damage in her left shoulder and surrounding areas, he is also concerned for infection. Sports surgery went well, he is currently recovering at his grandmother's house while Shannon remains hospitalized during her recovery.

The disturbing fact that this is not the first time these two dogs have viciously attacked someone on the same exact street makes this story unbelievably hard to stomach.  November 2015 a local jogger was also mauled by the same two dogs that attacked Shannon and Sport. Ambridge police charged the owner with reckless endangerment and failing to confine a dog, dog attack, and failing to have vaccinations on the animals. This was obviously not a harsh enough punishment because Shannon's whole world is now turned upside down. Her and Sport have a long road to recovery.

Shannon just moved to the area about 1 month prior to this incident. She works in dentistry and is need of full use of both arms to complete her job. The doctor has advised no work for one month, and depending on her recovery progress it may be even longer before she can return to work. Shannon will not only be affected by this due to lack of income during the recovery period but for her and Sports medical expenses as well. This gofundme page will help with Shannon and Sports financial hardship they will endure due to this vicious dog attack.
