Blacksox 12U Cooperstown Trip

First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I know time is valuable so I will be as brief as possible. 

My name is David Robinson, and I have taken on the task of raising funds for our Jackson-area Black Sox 12U baseball team to make a historic trip to Cooperstown, NY to play a tournament against teams from all over the country. Since the trip will be an experience of a lifetime for most of the boys, we as parents wanted to do something memorable for our boys.

I am not a professional fundraiser, so please bear with me. The task of raising money for this trip has turned out to be a little harder than I thought, and is going to take a lot more than selling cookies at a concession stand. The rough numbers alone are staggering, with the initial cost per child of $995.00.  Now, this is pretty much all-inclusive once you get there for the boys – food and lodging as well as two uniforms and warmups are included for the boys.  But it is so much more than simply that for these kids as they will be able to play on incredibly manicured fields with a true stadium feel, have their names announced over the PA system as they come to bat, and just for a brief moment, BE a professional baseball player.

Everyone has a dream and the dream of us as parents is to make this possible for all of our families. In addition to the cost per child, there will be travel costs, and food and lodging for the parents. My goal is to make this trip a “No Cost” trip for the families, and with your help we can fulfill this dream!

I hope that I have been concise enough to convey my point.  I have opened a “GoFundMe” account in order to help take some of the pressure off donating and keeping track of donors.  We have set a goal of $30,000 so that the burden of travel, lodging and food will be taken care for the parents and families in addition to our Future Stars. Any money left over will be donated to the Jackson Northwest Little League which is the home baseball family of these great kids. 

If this does nothing but take a moment to remind you to live life to its fullest, I have done my job. Thank you in advance for your donation, no matter what amount.
