Ryder is a two and a half year old German Shorthaired Pointer. She's a ray of sunshine not only in the lives of her parents, but also every other person or animal she comes into contact with. She can sense when someone is upset and needs a "puppy hug" or when someone is scared and needs a strong dog standing by their side.
She's gentle, very smart, and loves to snuggle with her parents or bask in the sun.
She does EVERYTHING with us.
During the late night hours of July 2nd, our precious Ryder went missing when houses nearby were setting off fireworks at Lake Martin in Alexandar City, Alabama.
Devastated does not even begin to describe how we feel since she has been gone. There is such an emptiness in our hearts. She is our entire world.
We do not live in the area (or even state) that Ryder went missing in, so she us unfamiliar with where she may be. The terrain here is rough and literally goes on and on.
We have had family and friends come and search with us by land and water all throughout the days and nights. We have talked to anyone we can. We have handed out countless flyers and posted signs all over. We have been to Shelters. We have alerted her microchip company. We have done it all.
We have barely gotten any leads.
We are dehydrated, have Poison Ivy, pulled and burned ticks off ourselves, sunburned and scraped up. But we will not give up on our baby girl.
We have exhausted all of our resources. We are physically, mentally, and emotionally drained.
We won't stop searching.
Research shows that dogs that go missing like Ryder can wander for many, many miles or days before they turn up.
We have decided to stay in the area longer and hire a Canine Search and Rescue Unit, which consists of 5 dogs trained specifically to find lost dogs based on scent.
This should at least help us point us in the right direction she may be wandering, or find her if she has been injured or worse.
While we are planning on paying for these continued search efforts ourselves, the SAR service isn't cheap, which is why we are asking for ANY financial support you may be able to offer.
Any donations will go directly to helping us pay for the continuation of our search efforts and ultimately locating Ryder.
ANY DONATION MAKES A DIFFERENCE.
Ryder is our family, and we won't give up on her.
If you have any specific questions, please message us.
If you are in Lake Martin, Alex City, or any of the surrounding areas, please keep a lookout and contact us if you see her.
Please share this page so that we may raise awareness and have as many people as possible knowing to look out for her.
