Normally I can’t see details on faces or see at any distance. Today for one hour, I was able to see my mom’ face and read numbers from right across the room!
I have been legally blind since birth because of a diagnosis called optic nerve hypoplasia, which means I normally have almost no vision because my optic nerves are under developed. My mom took me to a demonstration of a new technology, called eSight Eyewear. During that demonstration I had almost normal vision.
I tried on these amazing electronic glasses and was overwhelmed. The eSight really helped. I could see clearly, without having to strain and I could see at a distance for the first time in my life.
The eSight glasses used computer technology to magnify what I was viewing. They can hook up directly to a computer or to a TV to help me see what’s on the screen. That would be a huge advantage in my world on a day to day basis. I work at Walmart, and right now I strain to see things in my job and my mobility is difficult. I use a cane to feel my way from place to place.
With the eSight glasses, I could actually SEE!!!
The glasses cost $15,000 U.S., I need your help to buy eSight so I can see better. Insurance will not cover theses glasses and I do not have that much money.
It would be really nice to go on a walk and actually be able to see!
I want to be completely independent, but I often have to struggle to do what others take for granted. For example, right now, I have to sit on a chair and press my face up against the screen to watch TV. Plus, I have lot of trouble with independent living skills and I have to ask for help a lot.
eSight would change a lot of that.
