Help with Vet Bills for our Girls

Hello Everyone,

I am writing in the face of a tragic event that occured on Sunday. Rob was at the dog park excercising our dogs when a man, unprovoked, took out a knife and started stabbing the dogs. Carolina and Ruth (a.k.a. Cupcake), our two girls, got the worst of it. Otis is fine and Rob got knicked on the forehead trying to get them to saftey, and is fine physically. 

Luckily, everyone survived the incident. The injuries, however, are extensive and expensive. Thank God for the Oakland Animal Shelter, the paramedics, and the Oakland Police Department for their prompt response time, without which we may be looking at a very different outcome. 

The girls are currently at the Oakland Animal Shelter, where they are healing slowly under a doctors care. I just came from visiting them and while their injuries are extensive, they still have their beautiful spirit so strong. The man who helped us said that he has never seen dogs go through something so traumatic and still be so happy.  It is so hard to see them so scared and alone in the shelter, but we know it is what is best for them at the moment. Otis misses his sisters and has been pacing around the house looking for them everyday. 


The bills, however, are crazy. They are asking for $3000 to cover the cost of the surgeries that happened on Sunday, and we haven't even gotten to the nights that they have spent there or even thought about all of the follow up visits, etc. Anything anyone could give would be greatly appreciated. 

One of the beautiful things I have learned recently, unfortunately, is how much everyone comes together in the face of tragedy. Even if you can't give any dinero, please take some time to hold our girls in your hearts and pray for their swift recovery.
