Andrew's Journey to the Paralympics
Donation protected
I am Andrew Genge and snowboarding has been my life. I grew up on the slopes at the age of 2 with my father in tow. My deceased best friend and I switched the two planks to a board at the age of 10 and I never looked back. As most of you know, I had a severe traumatic stroke on May 14, 2004 playing rugby for my highschool team. I tackled a 300 pound adolescent which went horribly wrong. The tackle shattered my face between his hip and the ground. My fractured jaw bone sheered the carotid artery, causing a 12 cm blood clot to form and travel up into my brain. Immediately after my long recovery, I hopped back on my board and I fell in love again. Without the accident occuring, I couldn't be here training for the national team and hopefully the Paralympics. That is where I need your help. To train for the Paralympics, my schedule this year is to train/compete in Chilie, Yukon, Europe, Korea (test event), Big White Kelowna each costing around $5000. The money will used for traveling, healthy food, accomodation, lift tickets (out of country), equipment and supplies. I am in school taking nursing with no income and little personal funds. That is why I need your help. I'll be in deep appreciation with all of your support in donating to my cause. Without your help, I'll be severely restricted and have to use my emergency funds for food, accomodation, and lift tickets for my trip to Chilie in August and no chance in going to Korea. If you help me reach my goal, I will be ever grateful for allowing me to continue my dream of training/competeing and winning a gold medal at the 2018 Pyeong Chang Paralympics in Korea.
