Chris' Medical Fund
Here we are again, thrust into a situation completely out of our hands, leaving us completely uncertain of what is to come. If you know Chris and I - we would rather help then ask for help. This is very uncomfortable for us. But I promised him I would accept whatever help was offered up to us so here I am. When I got to the hospital yesterday we had some alone time and he said to me "This life of ours is more then you signed up for. I don't want you to have to carry this burden again." It broke my heart that that is where he is at right now, but I promised him that I could carry this burden 20 times over if I had to.
As most of you know on Thursday March 2nd Chris and his business partner were in a serious car accident. a 50,000+pound tree fell onto the company van while they were traveling on the Merritt Parkway. Both were injured - Dom is home recovering - Chris however, won't be home for at least 2 months. He is currently in Yale New Haven Hospital in the Trauma Unit. He will be there for at least another 10-14 days. After that, because we live in a 3rd floor apartment - he can't come home. He has to go to a rehab facility for another 4-8 weeks - possibly more.
His list of injuries is long, but it's nothing that he can't handle. I promised him, and I promise all of you he will come through this. He had one surgery already, and had at least one more, possibly 2 more ahead. Every day is different so I'm just trying to roll with the punches.
Our two little boys are confused and scared one minute, then they're ok the next. I know as the days go by, it's going to get harder for them not to see him.
All this weighs heavily on me, and I do not want Chris to have to worry about anything right now. He is our sole financial provider. We agreed even before we got engaged that if we got married, I would stay home and raise our children.
I thank you for the prayers, love, support, help with our boys and everything else in between.
I will do my best to update everyone daily.
We love you - Chris, Lisa, Jaxon and Jordan Scofield
