Support the MOVE Familys Conference
ONA MOVE! LONG LIVE JOHN AFRICA!
In 1972, John Africa founded the MOVE Organization to further the struggles of the liberation of all life, environmental sustainability and harmony, and other causes. Based in West Philadelphia, over the years, MOVE held several public events, community gatherings, and demonstrations to call attention to the perils of modern society. While not without some setbacks (including the imprisonment of 9 members of the MOVE family after an attack on their home by the Philadelphia PD in 1978 and the bombing of the MOVE family compound in 1985 at the hands of the PPD and the FBI, resulting in the death of 11 people, including John Africa and five children), the MOVE organization and family perseveres!
This coming spring, from May 5-7, 2017, the MOVE organization will be hosting a conference to talk about who they are. Over the years, many different stories have been circulated about MOVE, what they stand for, what they've done, how they operate. This is a chance for the family to set the record straight. Over the course of these three days, members of the family will be talking about the history of MOVE, the teachings of John Africa, and the work that MOVE continues to do to this day.
This fundraiser is being put together to support the logistical costs of the conference. The event itself will be free to attend, and the MOVE family has no intention of profiting off of this event. Money will go towards costs of renting the space (Universal Audenreid Charter High School), as well as transportation and housing costs for attendees coming from outside of Philadelphia. Any additional funds raised will be put to use for future events by the MOVE organization, or will be circulated back into the community at MOVE's discretion.
THANK YOU! Your donation will make this conference possible, and will help to spread the teachings of John Africa and the message of MOVE. For more information about the MOVE organization, visit onamove.com or "like" the facebook page "Justice for the MOVE 9"
ONA MOVE!
"All living beings, things that move, are equally important, whether they are human beings, dogs, birds, fish, trees, ants, weeds, rivers, wind or rain. To stay healthy and strong, life must have clean air, clear water and pure food. If deprived of these things, life will cycle to the next level, or as the system says, ‘die’." - John Africa
