Help for the Harmons

We are a retired military family. My husband served in the US Army for 28 years. I am a stay at home mother and we have four children. My husband's last deployment was to Afghanistan before we retired. As do many of our veterans, he suffered from PTSD. Last year it became apparent that we needed help. He works for himself as a CRNA and was unable to work for 5 months while he received treatment. He was finally healed and cleared to work again, but after only 5 weeks of income, he was struck by a spinal stroke. At present, he is paralyzed from the waist down and still hospitalized after 5 weeks. He was about to come home last week, but had to be taken to the ER for heart issues and an infection. We are now unsure of how long he will still be hospitalized and even if released, he cannot do anesthesia in a wheelchair. Many of our expenses for him to come home are not covered by our insurance because we are out of network. We have had to put our house up for sale because we cannot pay our mortgage and many of our other debts. This is the hardest thing I've ever had to ask for, but pride isn't going to cover our expenses or take care of our children. We have exhausted all our savings and the VA could take weeks or months to help. My husband has worked hard all his life and served most of it fighting for our freedoms. We never thought anything like this would happen. We are most grateful for your kindness and generosity.
