Kim Frey - Stem Cell Treatment

Donation protected
Hey there, my name is Tim Pinson and I'm here hoping to raise money for my sweet sister Kimberly (aka. Sissy).  She is a wonderful person, a fantastic mother and wife and she and her family need help!  I am a husband and father of four, and I hope there is a way for a family like ours to help make a difference in others lives.  Plus, I love these people and want to do anything I can to help.

Pictured here with me is my wife Rachael and our children, Noah, Naomi, Elijah and Esther.

These are my kids  and Kimberly's 2 oldest sons Jaden and Isaac on a recent visit.  We live a few states apart, so I love every minute that I get to spend with them.

This is my sister Kimberly, her husband Matt and their children, Jaden, Isaac, Liam, Niles and Haddie.... aren't they a great looking bunch!

Growing up, Kimberly was a vibrant, energetic person.  She played sports, was on the cheerleading squad and had a life of wonder ahead of her.

Towards the end of her senior year of High-School, she began to experience unusual joint pains.  For a while, the family just assumed that her active lifestyle was the culprit.  However, the pains did not leave and seemed to be getting worse.  What came next was something that no one expected and would have never thought would come to the place she is today.

Kimberly keeps a blog  of her journey and I have quoted a section from an entry she wrote a little over a year ago as she describes the rapid progress of her symptoms:

"I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis when I was 19 years old. Three years later, I was diagnosed with Lupus. Although I didn’t believe the doctors at that time, I was told that my immune system would continue to break down and I would probably acquire many more autoimmune diseases over the years. The doctors were right. I have since received many other diagnoses and a few possible diagnoses including degenerative disc disease, osteoporosis, celiacs disease, mutated MYHFR gene, kidney disease, fibromyalgia, a pituitary tumor, thyroid disease, diabetes and Multiple Sclerosis.... My immune system literally wants to self destruct. It attacks all of my joints, many muscles and several organs. I have tried more medications than I can even list. These medications have not been able to make a significant difference in my disease and they made me very ill in other ways. This lands me where I am today. To get out of bed and be able to function at all, I take high doses of prednisone daily and am on a big dose of opioids just to keep my head above the water. Three years ago, I had my right wrist fused, my right middle finger replaced, my right foot completely reconstructed and my ankle joints scraped and cleaned up. These surgeries were awful. What should have been a few week recovery time landed me in the hospital for several weeks and unable to walk for 6 months."

This is just an excerpt of her current diagnosis and the struggles she deals with every single day.

As I write this, my sister is undergoing her 14th surgery. Considering all she has been through, I am amazed at her bravery and positive attitude. This picture was taken earlier this morning as she was preparing for the surgery and it shows both of the above qualities.

She always has a smile on her face, so often, in fact, that most people look at her and never know that anything is terribly wrong with her body.  They certainly do not know the daily battle she has with pain all over her body, or the emotional struggle of watching her older children care for her younger ones because she is not physycally able to do so.  Her husband Matt works full time to keep the "ends together", and this illness is ever threatening the family budget.

The Good News!!

Doctors have recently told Kimberly that they have a treatment that they expect will have very good results in keeping her joints and body from further deteriorating. They have even said that there is a possibility that she will be able to walk again without excrutiating pain. This stem cell treatment(NOT Embryonic) has the potential of giving my sister some long deserved normalcy in life and relief from moment by moment pain.

Of course, the catch is that these kind of treatments are VERY expensive and are not covered by medical insurance.  There are a number of areas of her body that the doctors expect to be able to treat and they are currently looking at about 8 different treatment procedures.  Each treatment takes a number of weeks and will cost $10-$12,000 dollars each, adding up to nearly $100k.

It would mean so much to me to have been able to help my sister Kimberly and her family on her journey to healing, but I know that I am just one person and all I can really do is tell part of her story and hope that there are many others who will want to see her body (and life) restored as well.  Will you join me and share Kimberly's story and support these treatments?  They are expecting to start the stem cell treaments in one month, given that she recoveres well from her most recent surgery today.

I know she will be thankful to know that so many others are supporting her in this time and we are looking forward to great things!

Thank you so much for taking time to read her story and support her restoration!
