Brainspotting Training 2 Cambodia

My belief is that we are all brothers and sisters. We are on this Earth primarily  to love and help one another in whatever ways we can. We must grab opportunities to do so however they arrive, and make sure people know they matter to us, that we care about them - even when we dont know them, and may never meet them.
-Roby Abeles.

Cambodia is one of the most traumatised countries on Earth.

A staggering 1.7 - 2  million people were slaughtered between 1975 and 1979 during the Pol Pot regime.

There is deep trauma in the people of Cambodia.
This means there are also severe addiction and other mental health probelms. Therapists have limited access to cutting edge therapies to resolve these issues.

We want to help - and we have the skills to do that.

YOU CAN HELP TOO
 - WE CANNOT FUND THIS ON OUR OWN.

Because Cambodia is so poor, it is a source, transit, and destination country for human trafficking and the sex tourism trade.

A UNICEF survey concluded that 35% of Cambodia's 15,000 prostitutes are children under the age of 16.

Despite human trafficking being a crime in Cambodia, the country has a significant child sex tourism problem.

Children are often held captive, beaten, and starved to force them into prostitution.

The Solution
We are in touch with the CEO of the  The Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO) Cambodia, which is Cambodia’s leading NGO in the field of mental health care and psychosocial support.

They have said they can bring 20 - 30 Cambodian therapists to our training, and are excited for us to come and train their staff.

We are hoping that by bringing Brainspotting, to Cambodia,  we will be able to bring greater peace to indiviuals there, and stop the cycle of human trafficing eventually.

A little history
Life has a way of steering us in the directions where we will be most helpful.

In 2015, after the Paris bombings in November, David Grand who developed Brainsoting Trauma resolution therapy, created the Brainspotting Humanitarian Healing Effort, and invited all International Brainspotting trainers to begin to offer Pro Bono Humanitarian trainings or therapy sessions wherever they could.

SaleneSouza (BSP Trainer) , Kaye Griffin (BSP Supervisor) and I (BSP Trainer) have decided to take a Humanitarian Healing Effort Brainspotting training to Cambodia.

WHY TEACH THERAPISTS IN CAMBODIA BRAINSPOTTING THERAPY AND NOT SOMETHING ELSE?

Brainspotting is a therapy which easily crosses cultures as it is not depenedent on dialogue.

It accesses much deeper parts of the brain than talk-therapy  by using a fixed eye position to identify where in the brain the trapped trauma is held, and opens an inner door into the person's innate capacity to heal. It does not depend on the person being able to tell you what happened which can be retraumatising.

WHAT DO WE NEED MONEY FOR?

1) Fly three people (Roby, Salene and Kaye) to Phnom Penh from Sydney, Australia and back.
2) We also need accomodation for 3 of us
3) A venue for 3-5 days [depending on how long we stay) to deliver the training
4) Food for all of us - [trainers and trainees] while we are there
5) Trainees also need written and other materials during the training
6) We may also need one or more English/Khmer translators depending on the English skills of those who attend.

Anything you can give us will be well used - we are donating our time, and expertise pro bono.
