Eric Charles Orgeron. Born February 8, 1972 in Birch River, Manitoba, Canada.
Eric (along with 2 of his siblings ) was taken from his family in the mid 70's after his parents died in a car accident together. It was a practice now called the "60's scoop". The term Sixties Scoop, refers to the Canadian practice, beginning in the 1960s and continuing until the late 1980s, of taking ("scooping up") children of Aboriginal peoples in Canada from their families for placing in foster homes or adoption. It was another act of cultural genocide towards the aboriginal culture . Eric (and his 2 siblings ) were taken from their family in Canada and placed with an American couple in Louisiana. Unfortunately , the family was not one filled with love.
In 1990, Eric was involved in a bar fight that resulted in the death of another person. This was a fight that went terribly wrong & Eric plead guilty to the crime. With great remorse Eric waived all legal delays and requested immediate sentencing.
Now 44 years old, Eric has served over 20 years for manslaughter in the Louisiana prison system.
He will be released August 14, 2016. Eric's family is raising funds to bring Eric back home to Canada for a fresh and honestly first time chance at life. We are asking for donations to help with the travel expenses, clothes, toiletries, etc to get him started. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
