Comfort for Comfort

I met Comfort while we were both working at Isuroon, a Minneapolis nonprofit that supports Somali women. Comfort was an easy person to bond with; she just had that kind of sweet soul that you warm up to and you know that you've got a friend for life. We became fast friends and although we didn't work together for very long, I knew that Comfort was one of those people who I'd remain in contact with even if our lives took other trajectories, which of course they did!
A year and a half went by after Isuroon, and I had heard that Comfort and her three boys had moved down to Iowa so that Comfort could pursue her degree. It was a cold day in January on the West Bank in Minneapolis, I was walking down the street in a stinging wind and looked up and who do I see, but Comfort! She was moving back to Minneapolis in the summer of 2016 to return to the University of MN to finish her post-graduate work and to seek employment; she was happy to be coming back to MN; a place where she felt she belonged.
So she and the boys moved back here to Minnesota and, in the midst of this transition, Comfort was out on a jog. She took a horrible spill and fractured her leg so badly that it required surgery and extensive physical therapy.
Not that there's ever a good time for this kind of thing to happen, but this was just a TERRIBLE time for Comfort. She was only a week into her new role as Manager of a transitional Housing Unit for women fleeing torture based in St Paul. She has to meet all of her expenses and get herself situated into her new home with her three young boys, and is now faced with some major medical bills. This wasn't a part of the plan. All she wishes right now would be to get back on her feet (quite literally) so that she can continue to empower more women and girls throughout Minnesota.
Comfort isn't "comfortable" with asking for help. She is a strong survivor of domestic abuse, and is the founder of an organization to combat Domestic Violence in the African Immigrant community. She's an amazing single mother to three sons who are, without a doubt, the most important things to her in the universe.
It would mean a lot to me if you would pitch in to help Comfort during this time of transition by contributing a little or a lot, whatever you can afford. I know that Comfort would be very grateful and is too humble to ask for herself, and that is why I've set up this GoFundMe.
The funds are needed as soon as possible, so I'm hoping that people can act quickly so that Comfort and her boys can get settled into their new place and Comfort can finish her physical therapy and continue in her new position.
